File dialog in Chrome does not remember last folder
cn flag

I recently upgraded from Ubuntu 16.04 to 20.04, and there are so many issues that negatively impact my productivity. Most of them are related to nautilus.

In Chrome, when I navigate to a path for uploading (or saving) files, the path is lost when I upload the next file. I have to navigate again to the same folder for each file I select.

How can I make the file dialog remember the last path used? Thi ...

I recently updated from Ubuntu 21.04 to 21.10 and the upgrade has changed the behaviour of my Ctrl+. key combo. It didn't used to do anything, which allowed application specific shortcuts, such as VSCode to open the 'Quick Fix' menu.

Now it is hijacked by the OS and inputs a weird underlined e character in all text inputs. It does not show in any shortcuts in accessibility or keyboard settings, I hav ...

Clock Override alternative?

I've used Clock Override for some time and am very happy with the formatting options it lets me choose. After I upgraded to Ubuntu 21.10, I found that that format needed re-applying, and that's when I quickly found that Clock Override has not been updated for newer versions of Gnome (nor does it seem will any time soon).

Can anyone recommend an alternative or a way to do what Clock Override does an ...

At boot the keyboard backlight is off, but when the user logs in, it comes on full bright. I want it to be off without requiring user interaction.

This question Keyboard backlight turns on by itsself, Lenovo T440s has an accepted answer, but the file that it says to modify does not exist on this system.

So basically I want to test python programs, and just to stay organised I want to rename the titlebar to something like 'output' And I don't want to install pycharm and stuff because I'm lazy. So I was wondering if there are any commands to rename the current window (it resets if I close it).

Install VMWare including vmrun

Context:

I have to run a virtual machine with VMWare Player (version 16) on an Ubuntu server (version 18.04) without being able to run the GUI (the server has no display). The virtual machine has already been created, I just need to import the .ovf file and power it on. I read on several posts that the best way is to use an utility called vmrun. The problem is that it is not installed together with VMW ...

I'm pretty much new to Ubuntu so please be patient with me.. I recently updated to Ubuntu 21.10 from the previous Hirsute release I think it was. After updating, suspend does not seem to be working correctly. The screen will just glitch and show flickering white on top of a black screen. Locking does this too. The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
