I recently found out about ROCm that allows us to use Tensorflow and Pytorch on an AMD GPU. If someone has tried this please let me about your experience and performance improvements.

Implementing ROCm would require me to switch to Ubuntu. I would like to know the best ...

Can I make a printer visible/detectable when installing software in wine?
sn flag

I am using Ubuntu 21.04 and have created a 32-bit wine prefix configured for Windows 98, in which I wish to install a very old program (circa 1991, and probably 16-bit). However installation fails as the software does not detect the installed printer (which is a prerequisite). I have checked that libcups2:i386 is installed, and also by running Notepad (wine notepad) that my printer is recognised by wine ...

Is an application asking you to install its snap in devmode with no apparent reason a red flag?
in flag

I need to use Quirkos, which is shipped as a snap for download on the website. It is not available in any of the repos. In the Getting Started Guide, it says to install the snap via snap install --devmode quirkos-2.3.amd64.snap (page 3).

As this is just a qualitative data analysis tool, I see no reason why it should need to escape the sandbox in which snaps are usually running.

How to get more space on /boot? (extra kernels have been removed)
ke flag

i'm on ubuntu 21.04 trying to update to 21.10, and getting the usual error

The upgrade has aborted. The upgrade needs a total of 287 M free space on disk '/boot'. Please free at least an additional 31,6 M of disk space on '/boot'. You can remove old kernels using 'sudo apt autoremove' and you could also set COMPRESS=xz in /etc/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf to reduce the size of your initramfs.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
