Skype taking too much virtual memory

When starting skype under Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS it starts several processes. Two of them occupy 41.2GB and 32.6GB of virtual memory. Is that really needed? Are there files that can be deleted freeing that memory?

I am trying to create two .desktop entries to launch shell scripts.

the shell scripts fullLaunch.sh and tracepen.sh should be executed. Both run when launched from the terminal.

They launch multiple other files, including ros launchfiles and other shell scripts.

DNS resolve not working on linux ubuntu 22.04

when I try to change my DNS to any other DNS, nothing works as expected its like I set up nothing as DNS but i did!

when i open browser and try to open websites i get this error:

ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED


I tried changing my DNS in :

sudo nano /etc/resolv.conf

like this:

nameserver 178.22.122.100
nameserver 185.51.200.2

but after that when i open browser and try to open websites i get this error:

Upgraded to 22.04.2 LTS, now VLC can't open RTSP stream

After upgrading, I can no longer open a stream to my security camera (rtsp://frontcam2/). This worked fine before the upgrade. I can open mpeg files and audio and video work fine on those.

I turned on debug messages, and I got

Ubuntu 22.04 LTC with nullmailer and mailutils installed.

Tried a few different remotes configs but currently at:

I've tested with swaks with those same credentials and got the test email just fine.

I am trying to limit my user's concurrent logins. Every user should be able to have a limited number of simultaneous ssh connections to my Ubuntu 20.04 LTS server.

Here's what I've done so far:

  1. To /etc/pam.d/sshd, I added session required pam_limits.so
  2. To /etc/security/limits.conf, I added the following:
    • username hard maxlogins 1
      • I also tried:

I have uninstalled WSL which had Ubuntu 20.04.6 installed. Once uninstalled, I have enabled the feature and tried to reinstall Ubuntu from the Microsoft Store. When starting Ubuntu, I'm getting the error System path cannot be found. Also, when I try to install WSL via PowerShell, I'm getting Certificate authority is invalid or incorrect.

Microsoft 365 app - double icon/installation (2023)

I installed the desktop web app of Microsoft 365 on Ubuntu 22.04 (I believe it's a brand new option)

Somehow i must have done that twice, as i can see the 365 icon twice in the 'show applications' screen as well as in Settings/Application, but I cannot figure out how to remove one of the two installations/icons:

So I have installed Ubuntu ony macbook air but can't seem to get the WiFi working. I followed the steps here and here but nothing seems to work. For reference, after running

lspci -vnn | grep Network

I get the output BCM4360 along with [14e4:43a0] rev3 which should correspond to the bcmwl-kernel-source command.

I tried running

sudo apt install bcmwl-kernel-source

Ubuntu Studio 23.04 + SSL 2 - guitar input not working

I recently installed the latest Ubuntu Studio 23.04 and it looks like my SSL2 is partially working. The output works fine, I can hear any playback audio. However when I plug in my guitar it won't capture the input. Out of curiosity I tested with my old Focusrite 2i4 and everything works fine out of the box.

The patch bay looks fine, Reaper config is fine.

Could you please advise?
