Cannot install KUBUNTU from Live USB, EMMC Drive not seen

I recently bought an IdeaPad 1 82GV. It has an AMD3020E @1.2 GhZ, 4GB RAM, 64 GB EMMC drive and runs Windows 11 in S mode. I bought the device as a platform for Linux experiments, on a whim, with zero research, as it was on Sale. I had a look at KUBUNTU,XUBUNTU AND LUBUNTU on Live USB...after a little BIOS jiggery pokery. I decided to wipe Windows and install Kubuntu 20.04.3 LTS as it has a flashy KDE  ...

Ubuntu 20.04 Networking - can't get and outbound and inbound connection at the same time?
cn flag

I have a Ubuntu 20.04 VM that's had a solid connection for months. I recently changed my network subnet (from 192.168.7.x to 192.168.10.x). I made sure that netplan config has dhcp set to true, and set a reserved address through my router for the machine. It does get that IP address, but now it can't reach the internet. If I delete all firewall rules and add back just the ACCEPT for INPUT, FORWARD,  ...

items dropped from Ubuntu when upgrading from 18.04 to 21.04
ca flag

I recently upgraded from Ubuntu 18.04 to Ubuntu 21.04. There were a few in-use items which were not made available in Ubuntu 21.04 (and in Ubuntu 18.04, everything was working)

I have been running a package ("qnewb7" for Ubuntu) which required some packages which I can no longer locate and install. These are:

How to determine the location of the main man page directory
mm flag

I have an install script for a little program (script) that comes with man pages.

How can I find the location (full path) of the main man page directory?

As manpath gives me a list of directories, I would like a command to get a single directory and in best case the main one in order to copy man-files there.

Conky doesn't seem to launch

I'm not sure if this is quite the right place as I'm now running Kubuntu, but I don't know of a forum or stack dedicated to specifically Kubuntu help.

I'm trying to run the GoogleIntegratedSystem theme for Conky, but it doesn't render the actual window. It doesn't crash, either; when I run the start file, the desktop flashes black for an instant and then I get this output:

Volume buttons in keyboard not working in Ubuntu

I'm new to Linux and have installed Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. I'm in a Samsung notebook (NP550XDA) with a Portuguese Brazilian keyboard. It came with Windows 10. That's my problem: my keyboard volume up and down (Fn+F7 and Fn+F8 in my case) stopped working, but the mute and brightness keys still work. Not just that, but every time I turn on the notebook both the up and down keys work for just one time and like ...

Why does the VMWare mount point show as read-only even if actually writable?

This is a bit of a mystery. The hgfs shares all show as read-only, but I have no trouble writing files to them (as I want to). The trouble is that Nautilus refuses to copy files into these folders, as they are marked read-only, even if cp ~/some.file /mnt/hgfs/Downloads poses no problems.

See below for a demo

Is it recommended to move a directory to the filesystem root partition?
br flag

When I installed the OS, I gave the partition that would be used for the root filesystem more space than would be needed.

34/50 GB is currently free while my /home/{user_name} partition is almost full.

Anaconda3 takes up 7GB and I want to move it to the partition that hosts the root filesystem, but is it advised to move such directories to that partition?

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
