Where does the double-clickable app live on Windows?

I'm running WSL2 with Ubuntu. I want to be able to open Ubuntu via a voice command.

To do this I run Alexa Connect on my PC to write tasks that automate some PC functionality. All I need to do is link the file path in the AC app, but no matter how hard I try, I can't find Ubuntu.exe or anything else that starts up Ubuntu. My only option is to click on it in the Start menu.

How to update Thunderbird 78 to 91 on Ubuntu 20.04?
tr flag

At the risk of sounding like a complete noob... "how do I actually use the updater included with the download of thunderbird 91?"

I downloaded and extracted the TB91 archive from https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/ . I see an updater patch, but I do not see a basic "Read Me" to explain how to use the updater patch.

I tried sudo chmod +x updater, then $ ./updater , but get errors.

What's the easiest way to make an insert key on tenkeyless keyboard?
us flag

On the tenkeyless keyboard I am using there is no insert key that I can find.

On the right sided of the keyboard we have

F13 F14 F15

Eject Home PgUp
Del End PgDn

       Up
Left Dn Right

When I press the Eject button (where insert usually is) I see an eject symbol on the screen (no clue what would eject). Can I make that key the Insert key?

I want to run an old GNOME app

raj

I know that what I want to do is a bit unusual, but I have a need to run a quite old version of gThumb (2.10.11, coming from Ubuntu 10.04) on Ubuntu 20.04.

(Someone asked me in the comments why, so here's the explanation: that old version has a very good slideshow mode, which provides several features that the current version of gThumb present in Ubuntu 20.04 does not provide. Among them are: 1) opt ...

I have a Synology NAS with various folders which I share over my network. When I start my Ubuntu laptop these network drives are mounted as read only but when I unmount and remount them using the Files application they allow read/write access. Is there a way I can mount them as read/write at startup. An example mount line in the fstab file looks like this

Issues the spotify widget for Conky

Hey guys so I've been trying to adapt the REGULUS conky theme by Khiky-Merveilles (u/Khiky73) for my High Res display (it's originally meant for a HD display) and also to make it work with Madh93's Spotify Scripts for Conky as by default REGULUS uses MPD to handle music stats. I have manage to make it work after hours of work (this is my first time working with Conky in such depth). Now when I la ...

Snapshot of apt / dpkg state to allow to download deb files from that state

I've read Snapshot and rollback of apt-installed packages and What does reading database mean in Apt?. My task (IMHO) is simpler than 1st question (for which there is no accepted answer): no need to roll-back, I envision saving enough of apt / dpkg state to allow to temporarily substitute saved files to be able to use apt-get install --download-only from saved state.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
