In my house, I have one PC with Ubuntu 20.04 on it and one folder shared with Samba. I also have two Windows 10 laptops on my local network where I have mapped this folder. Everything is working just fine and without problems.

Sometimes I need to access that folder from my workplace. There I use a PC with Windows 10.

How can I access the Samba share from my Windows computer at my workplace?

How do monitor a folder and play that song or video via vlc if there is a new file present?
tz flag

I saw a similar question asked about monitoring folders/directories. But his question was about moving the file and then running it. Monitor folder and run command if there is a file there? The answer included inotify and by using python. Is there a way to bridge off of that idea and only monitor one folder and run from one folder while being able to play music or video (.mp3 or .mov) using vlc? I  ...

How to upgrade Mozc in my Ubuntu 21.04 to the latest build from Github?
ng flag

I just bumped into this issue myself. tl;dr good news: it's already fixed few months ago in official git source codes. Bad news: latest version of Mozc available for Ubuntu 21.04 in it's repositories is 2.26.4220.100+dfsg-4ubuntu3 with the version that contain the fix is 2.26.4472.100, so straight sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade does not help.

How do I remove Linux and GRUB from my computer when I installed it on a seperate drive

I am trying to remove Linux from my second drive to prepare my laptop for craigslist. Specifically, I have Windows 10 on one SSD and Linux Mint on a different SSD, and I would like to reset my Windows and delete my Mint OS because I want to make my system more vanilla for resale. Where did nextcloud go?
de flag

I just installed Ubuntu on my Raspberry Pi 4 because I got tired of screwing around with Debian and not getting stuff to work. I want to use it as a NAS, so I installed Nextcloud from the Ubuntu Software app, which seemed like the thing I needed.

Now it finished downloading, but if I go to the menu by clicking in the lower left corner, I can't see it.

Where else could I find apps or Nextcloud?

Ubuntu Server 20.04 Keeps Shutting Down

I'm fairly new to using ubuntu and brand new to using ubuntu server. I've been working on setting up a physical home server to run some basic tasks. I had the server up and running fine for a couple of days, but then I noticed I was having issues connecting to the server via ssh and then I discovered the server was actually off. The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
