cg flag

I have many terabytes of data to sort and am using Catfish with Thunar 1.6 using Xfce 4.12 in Ubuntu 18.04.

I can find everything I'm looking for with no problem, however some files are 10 sub-directories or more down making it cumbersome to retrieve and relocate the files, with hundreds of files to sort and relocate.

I'm new to Ubuntu and did a fresh install of Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS. I mounted an FTP drive by using GUI "other locations " and entering the address for my windows FTP server and have access to my files. The goal here is to automate the process of exporting data from an app running on my windows machine and importing it to an app running on Ubunutu. After generating the export files automatically on the win ...

Also the first number keeps rising.

No Graphics Output from RTX 3080; X Server Not Configured
pg flag

Beginner user here. I've got a server box loaded with an Intel S2600ST, an Intel Xeon Silver 4216, and an RTX 3080, and either Ubuntu 20.04.03 or 21.04. When I've had the LTS loaded, it would recognize my nVidia as a generic device, however 21.04 directly identifies it as a 3080.

I currently have this system connected with a VGA from the baseboard, which outputs fine. During the OS Boot, my main  ...

How to add support for Magic Mouse 2 on Kubuntu?
nz flag

I am currently trying to make my Magic Mouse 2 work on my system (Kubuntu 20.04). The mouse is detected under the bluetooth section, but only moving and clicking works, there is no support for scrolling or any other touch-related gestures. Also, another issue I had is that on restart it doesn't automatically turn on every single time, but that's a lesser issue.

Mpv cannot find fftw library
si flag

When I try to run mpv to watch a youtube video, e.g.:

mpv [url]

it gives the error:

mpv: error while loading shared libraries: libfftw3.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I installed FFTW3 from source for my study some months previously, as I didn't know there was an apt package for it. Maybe that has something to do with it.

How do I fix this?

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
