In Ubuntu 20.04, how do I update Python 3.8 to 3.9 and get to use IDLE Shell 3.9 instead of 3.8 as my default?
co flag
SBL

I'm on Ubuntu 20.04. I was wondering why even after entering

sudo apt install python 3.9

in terminal, but I still get python 3.8.10 when I enter python3 --version. How do I make it 3.9, so that when I open IDLE, I get "IDLE Shell 3.9.6" instead of "IDLE Shell 3.8.10"?

I've just just started to use Ubuntu and Linux and may not be clearly understanding some things just yet.

Back in 2013 the answer was ksuperkey for Plasma < 5.8 How do I open the Application Launcher on KDE with just the meta ("Windows") key?

In 2018 there was something done to make it work out of the box, as long as an shortcut is assigned like Alt+F1 How to activate application launcher using meta key

It used to work for me until Kubuntu 20.10, since 21.04 it is broken.

Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS - No Wi-Fi Adapter Found
cn flag

I have just installed Ubuntu and Settings > WiFi indicates no wifi adapter found. I believe the hardware is supported. I have tried troubleshooting by googling solutions but have had no luck.

I generated a text file that is fairly long with a lot of wireless info (using instructions here) that I can provide if that's helpful.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Add Solus OS to Ubuntu grub menu
br flag

After installing Solus OS in dual (in fact multi)-boot along Windows 10 and Kubuntu 20.04 the laptop shows at boot the boot menu created by Grub Customizer in Kubuntu (which I like) but without the last installed system (Solus). Updating grub doesn't add Solus, neither does any action in Grub Customizer.

I can add only an option called by default "UEFI Firmware Settings" which is a link to the BIOS Star ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
