Gtk-3 / Adapta theme : Selected window's title color, checkbox/radiobutton icon size
se flag

I'm happy with an excellent Adapta theme except two small issues:

  1. Checkboxes and radiobuttons are too big (see attached image)
  2. Windows's title is light grey when it's selected

Where can I find these parameters(?). Is there any editor, so I can fix the width and the color? Thanks..

How to estimate the L2 shared memory usage on Ubuntu
ms flag

I'm trying to improve the performance of one of our systems and I'm supposing that the bottleneck resides on the L2 shared memory of my CPU.

Thus, I'm looking for a way to estimate how much of my CPU shared memory it is actually being used during the perf tests.

I tried to find something useful on top manpage here with no success.

We use Ubuntu 20.04 with Gnome 3.36.8 with x11 window system. We wish to use a webapplication/website in Chromium with EETI touchscreen. Usually we can use the touchscreen driver to set the touch controller to ''click on touch'' mode in Windows with the eGalax drivers, in Linux (we use eGalaxTouchManager-for LINUX_v2.5.7413.L-x-1.) this however doesn't work, in click to touch mode all touch input stops  ...

Which packages contains the strings present on login screen?

I'm asking this because I contribute to translations on Launchpad and I need to test them.

I have translated respective strings for words like 'Password' and 'Not listed?' from the gnome-shell package but they still appear in English on login screen. LC_ and LANG environment variables are set to target language and applied system-wide.

Is there a simple way to recover ext4 files from a lvm partition on a USB drive?
in flag

I removed the SSD drive from a failing computer so that I could recover the files from it.
I put the drive in a USB enclosure and mounted it on another computer, but the partition containing those files is an lvm partition, and I can't get at any of the files, or even see them. So, is there any simple way to recover ext4 files from an lvm partition on a USB drive?

Ubuntu 20.04 desktop horrible video and mouse on Firefox

I have an old reliable workstation that was 16.04 until a couple weeks ago. I upgraded to 18.04 and then after a few days to 20.04. On both 18 and 20, video in Firefox is horrible, like 1.5 frames per sec, and the mouse is very laggy, move it across the screen and it will disappear and reappear. None of this happened w/ 16.04. The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
