Change Ring parameters' pre-set maximum limits for NIC
cn flag

We have a Dell Poweredge R440 with Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (Kernel - 5.4.0-80.90-generic).

The ethernet adapter is Broadcom NetXtreme BCM5720.

I need to increase the Ring buffer value to 4096 for both RX and TX. The issue is that the pre-set maximimums are not allowing me to change the values greater than them.

Ring parameters for eno2:
Pre-set maximums:
RX:             2047
RX Mini:        0
RX Jumbo:       0

Krusader doesn't show wine folder
in flag

In Nautilus or by cd command, in my home folder, I can access my wine folder (".wine"). However, in Krusader, folders ".winff" and ".dosbox" are shown instead and the wine folder itself (or its "drive_c" subfolder) is not accessible. Is this a bug caused by Krusader existing out of Kubuntu, or is there any other reason? And is there any easy fix?

Btw. I'm happy with Krusader in general, changing to some ...

"which" command output into a variable does not work
cg flag

I am just a beginner at bash scripting. I tried to save output from the command "which" into a variable and printing it but the variable shows nothing. This is the code which I tried:

#!/bin/bash
OUTPUT="$(which curl)"
echo "${OUTPUT}"

Output:

user@user:~$ bash new.sh

user@user:~$

Also this works when I run it in terminal.

user@user:~$ OUTPUT="$(which curl)"

Does Default Ubuntu use ntpd or timesyncd?
cn flag

In the question linked, I ask how I can get time syncing to work. Why is the time not syncing?

The answer given was to check my NTP configuration. Why would I do that? I thought Ubuntu switched from ntp to timesyncd when systemd was adopted. What is the Default time syncing method on Ubuntu?

Is there a generic way to find the .desktop entry for a specific menu entry in the gnome-search bar?

For example, I was trying to find the .desktop entry for the gnome Settings application. As shown in this image:

Note that I already found this particular .desktop file because I knew that the official application name is gnome-control-center.
Thus the following command got me the right file:

I have a laptop with a faulty hard drive, when plugged into an external SATA cable it registers for a minute then it is invisible. So, I cannot install Ubuntu on it or format it. Is there a way for me to keep a 'Try Ubuntu' session running for weeks, or so, from a bootable pendrive, so my sign in to Google, etc., is remembered? Will it get slow if I keep suspending and running it?

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
