How do I get accented Spanish with "Spanish (no dead keys)"?
jp flag

I have been using the default Spanish keyboard layout for some time and it works well. It uses a dead key (the quote key) to get accented vowels. I press ' followed by e, for example, and get é. The problem is that this no longer works with FluentU. So I thought I'd try "Spanish (no dead keys)". But I can't figure out how to use it. With this setup, what exactly do I have to do to get an accented chara ...

What is the difference between using "echo" command and editing using "vi" when making changes to .bashrc file?
cn flag

I finished installing a program and some websites tell me to use the echo command to export an environment variable to the .bashrc file while others say to use vi .bashrc to edit the file directly. I was wondering what the differences between the methods would make me use one vs. the other in any given case? I'm not sure if using echo inserts a temporary variable while vi can make it permanent?

New guy here attempting to set up a samba share from a Ubuntu virtual machine.

I've got an ESXI server running various VMs, and one of them is a Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS machine.

I am simply trying to make a samba share accessible to Windows machines on my local network. I already know the machine is visible and accessible since I have a Plex server running on the machine that I'm able to access, and I'm ...

Asus Vivobook Flip 12 Ubuntu 20.04.2.0 (fresh install)

I'm very new to Linux and have absolutely no programming background, so apologies if there's an obvious answer here that I missed.

My computer is an Inspiron 7391 2-in-1. I'm running Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS.

My Dell active pen isn't registering pressure differences. I tried it in both Krita and MyPaint. I searched and saw that this has been asked before, but the solution I found hasn't worked.

I am trying to configure my Ubuntu (20.04) server on an old laptop, and there is something I do not understand about the configuration. From the ISP router's settings, I can see that it allocated the wifi IP 192.168.1.66 to the server, and lan IP 192.168.1.111 - I've also set the router to always give this IPs to the server and forward HTTP/S to 192.168.1.111. The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
