scanning multiple pages with scanimage
cl flag

I wish to scan multiple pages with my HP ENVY scanner, it does not have a page feeder. I don't mind where the files are created or what name and type they are, I'll convert them to a single pdf file after scanning. Have tried:-

scanimage --batch --batch-prompt --resolution 150

And various other permutations but get scanimage: sane_start: Invalid argument all the time.

Any advice would be welcome

Ubuntu 20.04 freezes when I connect external monitor through USB-C
in flag

When I connect an external monitor through USB-C my system freezes completely and the fans start spinning full speed and I can't do anything. It was working before but now all of the sudden it has stopped working. I used to be able to connect 2 extra external monitors (through HDMI and USB-C)

P.S. When I connect the monitor and then turn on the computer then it hangs at the splash loading screen.

vsftpd LAN and WAN access configuration
cn flag

I'm using Ubuntu Server 20.04 LTS baremetal, with the latest version of vsftpd. I have a very small FTP server at home, but I'm facing the following issue:

If I set the local IP on pasv_address (pasv_address=192.168.0.15), I can connect locally, but not externally. If I set my external IP on pasv_address, I can't connect locally.

Is there any way to be able to use the FTP server, both LAN and WAN? ...

Access removable media with snaps

My second SSD is mounted at "/home/maxime/Data/" to facilitate remote access. Also, since there is not a lot a space in my system SSD, I moved the /tmp folder to "/home/maxime/Data/.tmp" My problem is that now many applications simply do not launch because they don't have access to the external SSD. I tried the sudo snap connect commands, :

Today, after multiple restarts, my WiFi driver seems to have lost. The WiFi adapter is showing as unavailable, and I am not at all able to use WiFi.

I tried sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade, and I s ...

Ubuntu randomly reboots on new computer without logging any relevant events; how can I find out what's going on?
ar flag

I'm having an issue with a new computer; it randomly reboots. Not a crash...just, Like someone pulled the plug.

No logs are recording any events, they just...stop. Is there a way to force Ubuntu to record what's happening here? Or does anyone know if Intel motherboards have some sort of logging system?

I used Windows for a long and yesterday I switched to Linux, Ubuntu 20.04. Sound is much lower here than Windows. But if I go to Settings -> Sound -> Output volume to max (more than 100%) it plays as loud as that was on Windows. But the problem is when I press volume up button it changes back to 100%. The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
