I have the following simple problem. When my laptop goes to sleep (Ubuntu 18.04 lts), and I forgot to change the keyboard to English, I cannot change it back to log back in. Using the shortcut appears to change it, but it in fact does not change it. In the end I have to do a hard reboot and after logging back in, it indeed has kept the non-English keyboard it went to sleep with. Any suggestion to fix th ...

af flag

Installed Ubuntu 20.04 (LTS) on my new Mi Notebook Pro (14", Core-i5, 16/512GB, Iris Xe graphics). It does suspend when the lid is closed but not turning back on once the lid is opened. I tried everything I could, like tweaking the logind.conf file from /etc/systemd/logind.conf where I uncommented the HandleLidSwitch=suspend and HandleLidSwitchExternalPower=suspend. It seems like it does not have any eff ...

This is a image from my interface: files out of home directory

My Dell Inspiron trackpad worked normally in Ubuntu 20.04. But when I upgraded Ubuntu to 21.10 the cursor stuck in screen with trackpad not detected.

VLC - Black screen after change in monitors

I've got a Dell XPS 9310 with 4k screen and Ubuntu 20.04 running. Today I got two new screens that are 4k as well and I have connected them via DP as I had the Full HD screens before. Since then video output in VLC doesn't work anymore. I tried all the stuff you find online I think. I tried OpenGL and X11 output in all combinations with or without hardware acceleration.

If I do rm -rf ~/.config/vlc ...

Keyboard Epomaker K870T recognizes Ubuntu as Mac

I have bought the epomaker k870T keyboard and used it successfully these previous weeks under Ubuntu 20.04. The special function of the F keys, such as volume up/down on F12 and the rest never worked, but that didn't bother me, since they worked as simple F1-12 keys instead.

Today I tried to use my keyboard under Ubuntu, but it needed to be re-paired for some reason. After pairing it, it switched ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
