There was a need to change the wallpaper centrally, I do it through ansible, respectively, throwing a command from under the right user (manager-1117):

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background picture-uri "file:///home/files/5.jpg "

everything works successfully, but at the same time launching it in even to the crown:

PowerPoint from Office 2013 shows blank slides on startup
it flag

I just installed Office 2013 on Kubuntu following this video (using PlayOnLinux and wine). The gif below shows what happens when I try to open PowerPoint. It starts all right but the slides are blank (just a gray background). No matter what I try to draw/write on the slide it just stays blank.

PowerPoint Blank Slides

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

EDIT: Might be useful to mention that Excel and Word work perfect.

I have a .sh script i used which is no longer working. It checks if a Docker container exists by:

if [ -z "$(docker ps -q -a -f name=mujoco_roboy)" ]

This does not work in xonsh.

(docker ps -q -a -f name=mujoco_roboy) delivers some console output. How can i continue from that?

Raspberry Pi 4 Ubuntu 20.04 LTS not automounting after Reboot
us flag

I am running Ubuntu 20.04 LTS 64-bit on Raspberry Pi 4 but having issues automounting the cifs share on reboot.

I added the line in fstab and manually mounted the share through sudo mount -a but once I reboot the pi I have to retype the above command to mount it again.

Just for clarification I have same share mounted perfectly fine on different servers (3900X, few others) running 20.04 LTS.

Network ACL's on Ubuntu
ua flag

I am running Ubuntu 20.04. I have 2 interfaces and have enabled ipforwarding so my Ubuntu server is fully functional as a router. My question - does Ubuntu support networking (not file or directory) ACL's, ala Cisco like? I wanted to configure a standard ACL, and an extended ACL. However it doesn't seem to be possible??

can't boot without "noapic" kernel boot parameter
vn flag

I can't boot ubuntu (or any other distros) without adding "noapic" kernel boot parameter while in grub. this also includes being unable to boot from USB drive (when installing the OS). My machine is: "HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop TG01-2xxx"

I wonder how can I omit "noapic" in the future and what may be the reason behind this.

I would appreciate your insights.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
