Purple Screen After Reboot (Post installation)

I recently installed Ubuntu 20.04.03 on my PC. When I ran the installation, it worked well, initially. However, after I shut the computer off and turned it back on, I get the login screen, I typed my password and it hung on the purple screen. It is just a blank purple screen. I browsed the web and found that it could be the Nvidia driver causing this issue. For this reason, I removed my graphic card and ...

To keep this concise, I am having the exact same issue described in this question: Neither Ethernet nor WiFi adapter working on Lenovo Thinkpad P14s under Ubuntu 2x.04

I would've left a comment on there to ask a further question, but I am very new to the community, so I don't have enough reputation points :\

The solution given in that question appears to be elegant and functional according to the p ...

Dual boot with Windows 11 pre-installed on new laptop asks for Bitlocker Key

I recently purchased a new laptop--HP Pavilion 15 eh1097nr--that came with Windows 11 pre-installed on a 512GB SSD. I would like to install Ubuntu along side Windows and dual boot.

I ran the live USB for 21.10, and it did boot, but couldn't find the network card. I hadn't prepared any partitions yet, and wouldn't want to do an install until I figured out the network card issue (Realtek RTL8852A ...

ca flag

[![Wifi Card with one questionably broken pin][1]][1] I just installed a TP-Link Archer TX3000E AX3000 PCIe Wifi Card in my PC. However, my PC doesn't recognize that the card is installed. Not that it can't connect to wifi, but that the card doesn't exist. lspci does not list it. What's the best way to troubleshoot this? How do I get the wifi card to appear, so I can try connecting to Wifi to see if it  ...

USB C-type hub HDMI weird colour

I recently bought a USB-C hub to be able to connect all my desktop devices (including a monitor) to my laptop at once (plus wired internet).

It works great, but I immediately noticed that since I'm using USB-C to connect the monitor to the laptop instead of HDMI the monitor's colours are much worse than when I was using the HDMI output - everything appears to have 'less colour', like a grey filte ...

Working Directory Spontaneously Deleted

On Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS, I was working in nvim in bash. I had multiple terminal tabs open. There was a .git directory in the working directory. At some point, after closing one terminal tab, I noticed that the directory I was working in does not exist any more.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
