I've got a new X1 gen8 with core i7 10510U CPU. I've installed Ubuntu 20.04 and tlp, were successfully changing charge levels up until this moment. I guess, I've installed some regular update and it doesn't work anymore :( When I try to do anything via tlp it tells Error: battery charge thresholds not available.

nr flag

I've been using Ubuntu 20.04 for the last few months on my old Dell Inspiron 3558 laptop and it's working like a charm. Recently, I bought a new laptop, a Dell Inspiron 3501, and it came pre-installed with Windows 10. So I dual-booted Ubuntu 20.04 on it to check if everything is working fine and later I wanted to remove Windows completely and install Ubuntu as my primary OS.

Disable charger beep ubuntu 20.04

I recently installed Ubuntu 20.04 on my laptop, which runs perfectly. But I am having trouble with the charging feature. The charging is constantly being interrupted, stopping and restarting, with an associated beeping that is quite annoying. It plays through where ever the system sound is playing out of, either main system speakers or headphones, rather than any internal system beeper. Is it possible t ...

Rsync command was:

When I woke up this morning I saw that my / is completely full. While I'm actually sure it is not.

What can I do to solve this?

How to change tty's text size/scale on 4k resolution screen OR force lower screen resolution?
kr flag

All DEFAULT Ubuntu Server 20.04.1 LTS installation (without Xorg) + 4k hdmi display = not readable tiny text in the console.

Setting GRUB_GFXMODE in /etc/default/grub (from this answer and similar threads) affects only GRUB black and white console output (on bootup), then it jumps to color loading and login Ubuntu console "color loading and login Ubuntu console".

On the monitor with 1080p maximum resolution text scale is normal.

Allow disk cache to use as much of RAM as possible

I recently learned that Ubuntu uses disk cache / filesystem cache (size is displayed in system monitor). I couldn't see any documentation that says there is a default limit on how much RAM can be used for disk cache. So, I assumed that disk cache size can grow till it completely consumes RAM.

However, I noticed something that says otherwise. I'm training a deep neural network with a large dataset ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
