Graphics Messed up after updating Lubuntu
mx flag

I installed Lubuntu on an old laptop. Everything was fine until I installed updates the other day. After the updates, the graphics were messed up. The menu and the bar at the bottom of the screen are ok. Also, if I open a terminal, that is clear too. I'm about to just reinstall everything but wanted to ask here first.

I currently have the following setup:

  • ~500GB SSD - Hosting Windows 11 (preview version, AFAIK it's Windows 10 with cosmetic changes)
  • ~2TB HDD - Split between Windows D:/ drive (1.5TB) and Ubuntu (~300GB)

Which looks like this in Windows Disk Managment: enter image description here

I am using Focal Fossa. After the screen has been blanked for a while, the Keyboard/Mouse won't respond anymore so I can't resume the session. (Can tell the keyboard is not responsive since the caps lock light won't come up)

Not 100% sure if it's just the Keyboard/Mouse or if the system is completely frozen. Automatic Suspend is OFF and I am using Ubuntu default Gnome DE.

My internet connection became noticeably slower after downgrading from 20.04 to 18.04 MATE
pg flag

A couple of days ago I had problems with my new installed WiFi driver in Ubuntu 20.04. I couldn't solve it so I downgraded to Ubuntu 18.04 (MATE because I missed 16.04's feel)

This solved my driver problem, but for some reason its connection speed is slower than 20.04. I know MATE uses different configurations, any possibility it also causes my speed to slow down? Any explaining is appreciated

Audio is overdriven and delayed in Ubuntu 20.04
de flag

Normally my audio works fine but like every 15 minutes my audio gets overdriven, delayed and crackled and I don't know why.

I read on Reddit the command killall pulseaudio should help and it did, but in the next minutes it starts again. But the strange thing is when I'm in a game like CS:GO or Minecraft the Audio works fine even after hours.

What can I try to fix this problem?

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
