I got a Lenovo Thinkpad E14 Gen 4 with a fingerprint reader. When trying to set it up I get

Setting up Inseego/AT&T/Novatel USB800 USB Wireless Modem on Ubuntu 20.04

I'm attempting to get inseego/at&t's USB800 wireless modem to work on my Ubuntu 20.04 box.

However, upon plugging it in, looks like the Linux host cannot be properly initialize it. The User Manual for USB800 USB WAN indicates that it is Linux compatible, but I am getting the following error logs:

Logitec StreamCam not listed as a connected device

I thought the computer should recognize the Logitec StreamCam after I connect the cam via the USB-C port.However, the device is not listed as one of the connected devices. I verified that the StreamCam I purchased works fine on my Windows laptop.

While this works for all intents and purposes, it requires a lot of manual, "fixing" of the data in an excel sheet to get it to a usable format for my needs.

How can I use solaar to map the forward / back buttons on my Logitech MX/2 mouse to next / previous virtual desktop?

What does this command do (echo deep | sudo tee -a /sys/power/mem_sleep)?

I have solved the problem of my laptop waking in 20 seconds like this - see links there. I would like to understand how this works.

That solution is to somehow modify a variable in /sys/power/mem_sleep, namely s2idle to deep.

Looking at that file it contained this single line:

Problems with encrypted and lvm partitioning Ubuntu 22.04

I just installed Ubuntu 22.04 and I have a problem. it did not automatically install cryptsetup and cryptsetup-initramfs packages. That means when I boot it jumps automatically to (initramfs) and it does not recognize any other partitions than /boot.

So it´s my partitioning:

-/nvme0n1p5 -- /boot -/nvme0n1p6 luks -6....crypt.

Macbook takes 20 seconds to wake up

Kubuntu 20.04 on Macbook Air suspends fine but takes too much time to wake up each time, about 20 seconds.

It seems to be a case of normal suspend/ sleep, not hibernation, given systemctl suspend triggers the same behavior.

running that, waking and then running

I get this (on Pastebin). there is no hibernation mentioned there.

Having an odd display issue with a clean and upgraded versions of 22.04. Before I continue on, I have searched and tried many different fixes and none have worked.

$PATH is different for startup programs

I have a .sh file with echo $PATH. When opening a terminal, the PATH is how it is supposed to be, it includes all the additions in .bashrc.

I open the startup menu and set this script to run on startup. But when it runs, the $PATH variable only has /usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/games:/usr/games. It should be much longer.

Things I've tried putting before the echo:

  • source ~/.bashrc
  • . ~/.b ...
