in flag

I am running KDE Plasma 5.18.8 on Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS (installed from Ubuntu Server ISO) with NVIDIA 510 drivers. I have 3 identical 240hz monitors running on display port from a RTX 2070 Super.

I have been running into an annoyance where approximately 10 minutes after being logged in, my primary monitor will go blank for a few seconds and come back on. Then < 1 minute later my left monitor wil ...

I'm a bit of a newb when it comes to Linux so bear with me.

I installed Ubuntu 21.10 Desktop from a Live USB over the weekend to a NAS device. Performance was abysmal but I kept at it and eventually screwed something up, unable to boot after a day. So I reinstalled (without formatting from scratch -- I had already moved 3TB of data back onto the drives and didn't want to do it again) and everythi ...

Ubuntu does not detect Windows on installation
pe flag

I want to install Ubuntu on a partition next to Windows, but the "Install next to Windows" option does not appear.

I have already tried two things that are recommended to do to make Ubuntu find Windows:

Disable fast startup Execute the chkdsk commands

But it still doesn't work, it's weird, because I have already installed Ubuntu and other distributions in the past, in a separate partition and I didn't  ...

Camera errors in Ubuntu 20.04
ao flag

Well basically something goes wrong with the camera- it may not work at all but after I reboot it does for a while and then stops. If I'm on Windows 10 it works just fine, so it's not that the camera itself is damaged. How can I fix this please? Is it a driver issue?

I had problems with my upgrade to 20.04. I thought I fixed them, but I was wrong. When I try to install libopengl0 I get an error that libglvnd0 needs to be version 1.3.1-1 but version 1.3.2-1~ubuntu0.20.04.1 is installed.

Below are a few examples of what I have tried so far:

Write cache / delay as long as possible
us flag

I am trying to setup Linux to delay the writes as much as possible (minutes). To those wondering why: this is Chia plotting. It is very write intensive done in SSD/NVMe, if the system crashes you have to restart from scratch anyways.

Minimizing the writes to disk actually increase the life expectancy for the disks.

That said I setup a testing system (20.04.1-Ubuntu LTS in a VM Hyper V - Windows 10). ...

Livepatch -- plans to support official HWE kernels?

According to an answer to this question, livepatch supports only the release kernels for a given LTS release. The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
