How do I delete Ubuntu Studio from a dual boot configuration with Ubuntu Desktop 20.04?
cn flag

I am new to Linux and I got carried away. I have a 2012 MacBook Air. I've dual-booted Ubuntu Studio and Ubuntu Desktop 20.04. Due to space constraints on my HDD, I'd like to remove Ubuntu Studio, but I am not sure if there's an easy way to do this. Ubuntu Studio was installed first. When I installed Ubuntu Desktop 20.04, I simply used the option to install alongside Ubuntu Studio. Do I have to start ove ...

I'm new to Ubuntu and Linux with a GUI in general. I just installed Ubuntu on my new Dell XPS 13 2in1 and immediately noticed stutters when scrolling through the Terminal or Firefox. It has an Intel i7-1165G7 with integrated Iris Xe Graphics. I looked around for a bit and tried the method with the 20-intel.conf file in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d but that didn't work so I'm kinda helpless right now. Any help w ...

My Kubuntu 20.04.3 stopped being able to detect my second monitor after installing the nvidia-driver-390 recommended graphics.

One monitor is connected to the card an the other to the board.

Apparently (am a Linux noob) the xorg server isn't detecting the second monitor anymore as you can see in the xrandr command bellow

How to create linux-libc-dev .deb when building 5.13 kernel?
in flag

Our turnkey application that runs on 20.04 requires the 5.13 kernel and the headers in that version's linux-libc-dev package that are installed under /usr/include/linux. It also requires a custom change to one of those header files. I have downloaded, built, installed, and am running the 5.13 kernel just fine on our target (amd64) VM. I can see the correctly modified header file in the source tree under ...

Ubuntu messes up with Windows clock
ca flag

I run Ubuntu Mate 20.04 LTS along with Windows-10 on a dual boot desktop. My local time zone is USA PST, (which is GMT-8:00). The problem happens when I switch to Windows. Suddenly, I discover that the Windows clock is pushed 8 hours ahead. This might indicate that my time settings are done differently for Windows and for Ubuntu, even though they are done for the same time zone. Is there a way to s ...

I'm using Asus TUF A15 laptop with Ubuntu 21.04 installed (Ryzen 5800 / RTX 3060)

Today I dusted off an old monitor which I planned to use as third screen (60hz/1080p), over standard HDMI albeit after connecting I encountered a problem.

Alt+Tab mysteriously becomes Super+Tab: any idea what's going on?

Over the course of a day of working on my PC (Ubuntu 21.10 x86_64, Gnome 40.5, Wayland), without (I believe) my doing anything to cause it, the function of Alt+Tab (switching between open windows) stops working but suddenly Super+Tab does what Alt+Tab is supposed to do. I got this thread as a prompted similar question, but I only see there that Alt+Tab stops working, not that Super+Tab starts doing it' ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
