Upgrade from Ubuntu 20.04 LTS to Ubuntu 21.10

I am trying to upgrade to Ubuntu 21.10 as it is released now but the updater only shows version 21.04. Even if I try to upgrade to 21.04 first: as soon as it comes to the point to upgrade something with the package resources it does only say that there is some error which most likely was caused by packages not supported by Ubuntu or something like that and it tells me to use ppa-purge command from the p ...

I've looked through some of the snd-hda-intel kernel module notes and it looks like patches have been added to the kernel to support CS8409. However, Ubuntu 21.10 doesn't even recognize the card now. See below:

Codec: Cirrus Logic CS8409

I recently bought a ThinkPad T14 Gen2 with an MX450 and had problems with the drivers. Spoiler alert... I don't have them anymore. This is a question for information.

I went into /lib/modprobe.d/blacklist-nvidia.conf and commented all the aliases and blacklist for nvidia drivers. I have the nvidia drivers installed and prime-select set to nvidia and still the blacklist file was there.

Network interface logical name changed on upgrade from 18.04 to 20.04 on multiple servers
cn flag

I am seeing network interface names change on multiple servers after an 18.04 -> 20.04 upgrade done via do-release-upgrade. Before the upgrade, I had not done any customization of NIC logical names, and was using the default predictable interface name, which was enp96s0f0 and enp96s0f1 for the onboard Intel X722 NIC. These are Supermicro X11 DPi-NT motherboards.

After the upgrade, enp96s0f0 has been r ...

Monitor showing up as 22 inch when it is 27 inch

So I have two 27 inch monitors, one is correctly registered, the other is showing up as a 22 inch even though it is not. This makes all the objects on the screen enlarged as the display thinks that it is 22 inches, so the items are displayed larger than they should be.

At first it wasn't letting me change the resolution from 1680x1050, which I managed to get around by creating a new custom resolu ...

Ubuntu 21.10 boots to black screen

Yestarday I upgraded from Ubuntu 21.04 to Ubuntu 21.10 but when I rebooted my laptop (Asus X505BA) and tried to login with Xorg I got a blackscreen. After that, I restarted my laptop again and I tried to login with Wayland but I got a blackscreen too.

With the Upgrade from 21.04 to 21.10, it seems we can no longer choose a standard Yaru theme variant but only light or dark.

Is there any possibility to get the normal variant back? (Mostly light themed but with dark top bars in applications.)

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
