cn flag

I'm trying to create a function where I pass in 2 variables. First a string to be hashed, and then a variable to specify the kind of hash, md5 or sha1. This is the function I created:

} > Desktop/hashedWord.txt

It is run as:

hashedWord aStringToHash, md5sum

When I plug in my Logitech controller, JSTest-gtk shows Logitech and a 360 controller in the list, but again, only one receives input. If I plug in both controllers, I get a list of 1 logitech and 3 360 controllers. These ...

cn flag

I have been using Ubuntu 16.04 for several years on a System76 Gazelle, but after a recent update, the OS will not boot and instead displays either a black screen or error messages. I am now trying to overwrite the OS with a newer version (Ubuntu 20.04) from an external Solid State Drive. The issue I am having is that the SSD does not appear as an option from my Aptio Setup Utility.

How to fix and enable HDMI audio?

I have laptop HP Pavilion with geForce gp, and just instaled Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS (had win10), one Monitor and pair of speakers. My problem is that I can't play audio on speakers. If I plug speakers into laptop, then it works but I want speakers cable to be plugged into Monitor (not in laptop). This is important. In sound preferences is only one output device but no HDMI. How to remove gnu grub without booting into Windows?

I'm on edge of tears. I have a dual boot machine for Ubuntu and Windows 7. After POSTing, I get sent into the GNU Grub menu. And recently, my Windows boot broke, and I can not boot into it. Battery switches between charging/not charging

I have an ASUS Zenbook Pro 15 and have a problem that I've been dealing with since I bought the laptop. The battery seems to switch between charging/not charging every 10 seconds. This only happens on Linux (Ubuntu Budgie). It's a minor issue, but it's an annoyance when my battery is low because every 10 seconds a low battery warning pops up.

My assumption is that is has something to do with ASUS ...

Grub not loading in dual-boot with Windows 10

I've first installed Windows 10 and afterwards the latest Xubuntu version. If I boot now it directly boots Xubuntu. Grub won't be loaded. I also changed the boot style in grub from hidden to menu without success. Then I tried to press the esc key during startup to force the grub boot menu without success either. So it looks like grub isn't loaded at all.

I downloaded Discord from discord.com (chose a .deb file), and installing ended up giving me both "Discord" and "Discord (Env)". Is there a way to get rid of "Discord (Env)"? Snap (which I suppose installs Discord when the .deb is double clicked) only shows 1 "discord".

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
