AppArmor - restrict a directory by default (whitelist)
in flag

I'm looking into AppArmor and from what I have seen, it seems like it allows access to everything by default and only puts access restrictions to application for which a profile has been created.

Is it possible to do opposite? - to deny access to a specific directory by default system wide and only allow access to it if it has been added in an application profile?

Looking for a subtitle translator-&-merger to create dual-language subtitles
ni flag

I want to translate an .srt file, and then merge the result with the original such that both texts appear in the resulting .srt file, the original at the top and the translation at the bottom. If I can modify the font size, choose what goes where, and perform it all on my machine (Ubuntu 20.04) without internet access, even better. Has anyone found solutions for this?

So I have recently decided to move to Linux cause I couldn't handle windows anymore. I like the change and learning process with the new system.

The issue is that my ubnutu is installed on my 500gb disk, and the other disk is empty. I was wondering how can I change its installation dictionary from that disk to the other. Because it limits me from creating folders and downloading applications into ...

Is there a Linux VLC version which supports the SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) protocol?

I use OBS Studio to stream live video using the SRT protocol.

To receive the stream, the current Windows and MacOS versions of VLC can be used.

But the Linux versions were compiled without libsrt, and cannot receive SRT streams. I checked the version in the Ubuntu repository: vlc/focal 3.0.9.2-1, and also the nightly PPA: 4.0.0~rc1~~git20210808+r89110+251~ubuntu20.04.1.

Unable to update “Dell Inc. System Firmware”: missing signed bootloader for secure boot: /usr/libexec/Fwupd/efi/- Fwupdx64.efi.signed cannot be found

I have a Dell XPS 13 7390 BTX, running Ubuntu 20.04. I've noticed this error when updating my programs, specifically "Dell System Firmware 1.5.1 > 1.9.0".

The closest to a solution I found is from https://github.com/Foxboron/sbctl/issues/10#issuecomment-648442565, recommending:

sbctl sign -s /usr/libexec/fwupd/efi/fwupdx64.efi -o /usr/libexec/fwupd/efi/fwupdx64.efi.signed

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
