Just installed 20.04 and only Mono-Sound
je flag

I have just installed 20.04 on a 60GB partition of the SSD alongside windows and Ubuntu-18.04.

I did the Update and 309-Upgrades. Everything is good except the sound. I only get Mono and a pretty scratchy version of that when I assign the Sound (Settings > Sound) to the HDMI monitor.

When assigned to the Internal card I get good-Stereo but at very low volume even with the "over-amplification" cra ...

I tried again to flash the card with that same image and same thing happened. It was fine in the very first session but then I got this boot error that I haven't been able to solve.

Squiggly/wavy/interlaced display

I'm on a MSI PE70 2QE Laptop with an NVIDIA Geforce GTX960M.

I was running Ubuntu 21.04 and since I've installed all the latest software updates my display is acting up.

It doesn't flicker but it's kind of squiggly looking interlacing or something (best description I could come up with :p).

I'm running a dual boot setup, and on Windows there's no problem, so I guess I can rule out the display being bro ...

Goal

I wish to use the modesetting graphics dr-ver instead of the intel graphics dr-ver.

Note

I was only able to get around the automated spam filter by replacing invocations of "driver" with "dr-ver". See this.

Brother laserjet doesn't print until restart is selected, model HL-L8360CDW

Using 20.04LTS, Brother printer model HL-L8360CDW is connected to a network of Linux only computers. After sending a print-job no printing happens. Calling up "settings" I find the printer has errored and a message tells me to "fix the problem" and then select "Restart". The only problem appears to be imaginary in nature. The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
