I have been building a program that records the CPU temperature. I have used the command 'cat /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone*/temp' to check the temperatures and initially it worked fine. Suddenly I noticed that the command does not work anymore and realized that /sys/class/thermal/ does NOT contain any 'thermal_zone' folders anymore. Only cooling_device* folders are present.

how can I change the default position of Text Editor (Gedit)?
cn flag

Using Ubuntu 21.04, GNOME 3.38.5 I am new to Linux. I have grown accustomed to windows opening in their last-used location. I prefer my text editor (which I use a lot) on the right-hand side of my screen. (I prefer working with multiple windows.) Text Editor (Gedit 3.38.1) opens on the left. Can I change this default location? [The "key combination of ctrl+alt+[NumpadNumber] which positions the window"  ...

/var/log has huge size because of snap

Recently after I restarted my computer, it was giving "Low Disk Space Warning" . I did not care and because of that /var/log became %100 and I could not open my OS. So I deleted some files under /var.

Now it is %95 but it still gives that warning at beginning. You can see in picture after I clicked "examine" in that warning:

bd flag

I installed the latest version of Ubuntu 21.04 on my ROG laptop, however every time I press any key on my keyboard, it tries to shut my device off. Is there a keyboard or power management setting I can disable or change to fix this issue?

Update: Setting power off button to Do Nothing fixes the issue though I don't really like this fix.

My thinkpad does not have a dedicated touchpad key so I created a script to toggle touchpad and assigned it to F1. It works as expected.

Now I am trying to display touchpad icon bubble whenever script is run but not able to find any way to do it.

Note : I already know about notify-send which doesn't solves my purpose as its not same as other notification bubbles i.e mute, vol down, vol up, etc.

Command for setting a custom keyboard shortcut
in flag

I am using Ubuntu 20.04 LTS

While typing in Texmaker, if I want my cursor to jump to end of the line, I have to press the end button. which is far in the corner.

So I went to settings-> Keyboard Shortcuts-> Set Custom Shortcut, but it requires a command to get there.

What should I write there to make the shortcut work the same as pressing the end key?

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
