Changing terminal emulator from gnome-terminal to kitty breaks some functionality
et flag

I've switched from gnome terminal to kitty. I ran

sudo update-alternatives --config x-terminal-emulator

and selected my terminal.

However, some actions still ran using the default gnome terminal.

I tried uninstalling gnome-terminal, but that didn't change anything.

The problems I have are that

I have installed the 20.04.2 yesterday. When I tried to turn off the system yesterday, it went to a black screen with an underline blinking on the top left. After 30 seconds or so 3 lines of text flashed and then the computer shut off. I tried turning it on and then off again and same thing happened. Kubuntu frozen on loading screen

Whenever I boot my computer, I get past the Dell screen. Then, the black Kubuntu loading screen blinks slowly for usually around 3 seconds. After that, it just freezes. I can still use Ctrl+Alt+Del, and it still shuts down. The only thing that let's me get in my computer is going into the Grub menu and booting into recovery mode. After that, I have to press "Resume Boot" and somehow THAT works, but not  ...

Bash script not working in Ubuntu in Windows 10

Is Ubuntu different from Linux on a Mac? Sorry if this is a basic question...I am new to this. I am trying to run a bash script that creates a .sh script out of some FASTQ files. This works in the terminal on a Mac OS. I am trying to run it on my Windows laptop and it ignores my escaping of #s and just states that several commands are not found. I'm using Intel integrated graphics UHD 630. I have an AOC G2460PG monitor which seems to have issues with the driver and my resolution is stuck at 640x480. I found a solution that works except I'm not sure about the second part because I don't have a /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf directory. After reviewing the UbuntuWiki I see that it's located in /etc/X11, but I don't know what settings I should put  ...

Image Viewer / EoG seems to be the only affected program

The issue started recently.
Smaller images are loading a little slowly, greater than 10mb do not load at all, and seem to hang the program/ partially unresponsive for a short time.

Gimp has no issues.
Images greater than 100mb load fast within guest Win7 VM.
Saw a post about VM being an issue, tried without other programs open after restart, ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
