Like the title says, Ubuntu has stopped recognizing any USB drive I insert. It worked just fine a few days ago? It does recognize my phone when it’s plugged in so I’m not sure what’s going on. All of my USB ports work, I made sure to check that first. So I recently installed ubuntu. Before this I had Windows installed with 3 drives i.e 'C:/','Studies:/' etc.

I only tried to remove the C drive and installed ubuntu there, which I did successfully. Now that Ubuntu is installed; when I opened Ubuntu I 'mounted' the 'Studies' drive. First it mounted as read only, so I changed it to write mode following google, using this command:

sudo mount -o remount,r ...

i have a problem with openvpn client. After installed Ubuntu 22.04 on my pc i can't connect with openvpn cliente from pc. After few minutes i get message that the connection not work.

The same credential and the same settings work fine on other pc with same version of Ubuntu but coming from 20.04 versione

Do you know why i have this problem. Can you suggest me something please ?

I am trying to install Ubuntu Server 22.04 LTS on a virtual machine on my Synology NAS 718+ (Intel Celeron J3455 and 10GB RAM). (Virtual Machine Manager with a VM setting of 2 CPUs, 4GB RAM, and 50GB Storage)

The machine starts booting and I get to a menu saying either to "Test / Install Unbuntu" OR "Test Memory" after confirming to install a lot of commands are passing by but even after 2 hours  ...

Trying to Upgrade an old Lenovo G570 laptop (Pentium B960 2.2Ghz, 8G ram) running Ubuntu 22.04 from a HDD to a Western Digital SA510 SATA SSD.

With the SSD installed in the internal SATA slot and booting from a USB stick, the SSD is not shown as an installation target.

How to free up some disk space on my Linux machine?

I'm still new to the Linux world, My disk size is 493 G

And when I use the command du -hs * /opt/conda, The total size I use is less than 95g

  • Disk Size is 493 G
  • Used 404 G
  • Available 89 G

  • So, (493 - 95) = 398 G available not just only 89 G

I upgraded my whole system from Ubuntu Studio 20.04.2 LTS to Ubuntu Studio 22.04.1 LTS.

My computer is the following machine:

Motherboard: MSI H61M-P31/W8 (MS-7788)

Processors: 4 x Intel Core i5-3330 @ 3 GHZ

RAM Memory: 8 GB

HHD: 2 x 1 TB

Video Card: Intel Xeon E3-1200 (part of the motherboard)

Audio Card: Intel 6 Series/C200 (part of the motherboard)

No updates since mid-December?

I usually get screen messages at least once a week for available security updates (or other updates) and I apply them immediately. But I haven't seen one since mid-December, which seems odd. Is anyone else noticing this? Based on comments in a similar post, I checked history.log.1 and found that the last event was 12/18/22. I'm running 22.04.1 LTS.

Magic Mouse has issues staying connected

I have an Apple Magic Mouse 1. Works perfect on the Mac full batteries as well.

It connects to my bluetooth, works perfectly for few mins, disconnects and then after 15 secs reconnects. Tried it on 2 seperate kubuntu installs same result.

Ive disabled /sys/module/bluetooth/parameters/disable_esco still nothing

Plugin windows won´t stay in the foreground since upgrade to Ubuntu Studio 22.04

I recently upgraded to Ubuntu Studio 22.04. When I want to open a plugin in my DAW (Harrison Mixbus v6) I have to double-click it twice or sometimes three times. And the window won´t stay in the foreground when I click on the mixer or editor window. I tried several settings in Preferences -> Appearance -> Quirks (in the DAW) already. It didn´t help. WiFi hotspot: clients can connect, but not ping the internet

I'm using the WiFi hotspot feature of Ubuntu 22.10, and try to connect from another Linux laptop.

Wifi connects alright on the client, but:

  • the network icon in the taskbar appears with a question mark
  • I cannot ping the internet, for example ping 1.1.1.1 (100% packet loss)
  • I can ping the gateway (10.42.0.1)
  • Strangely, DNS works: dig <any domain here> works
