Shortcut Precedence in Ubuntu 20.04
mx flag

I am advised that I can use the shortcut Ctrl + ; in Google Sheets to insert the current date. However, I have Sogou Input installed on my machine and this shortcut is also bonded to the clipboard functionality in that app, and pressing this shortcut would show me the clipboard, without performing the date insertion in my Google sheet.

I am not able to remove this shortcut from the settings of Sogou Inpu ...

How to detect someone's stealing CPU's resources or NAS's movies?

I noticed my NAS LAN LED's activity is always blinking, moreover today I used Windows and I realized that the fan noise was much much quieter than in Ubuntu. How can I get a "TOSHIBA EXT" USB Drive to mount?

Rob

The trouble began when I was using Xfe File Manager to copy 2 GB of picture files to the "TOSHIBA EXT" USB disk on my Ubuntu 18.04. The copying processing slowed to a crawl after copying 1.8 GB. After about an hour, the size of files copied had barely changed, I cancelled the process. I was going to shutdown the computer and noticed the light on the Toshiba disk was still blinking so I decided to wait.  ...

My Ubuntu USB Boot Drive Prompts nothing on startup?

Hello Ubuntu Community.

I'm trying to set up a USB Live Boot from my Windows 10 machine, but I'm not having any success. I've used Rufus dozens of times with varying configurations, ran block scans, clean slated my USB more than once, configured my BIOS, and used the two most recent LTS versions of Ubuntu. Though every time I boot from the USB, I'm met with a black screen or a frozen BIOS. The on ...

GNOME 3 show path to a desktop file seen in launcher?

I'm using a pretty clean install of Ubuntu 20.04 at the moment, finally though to ask this here since it's been bugging me. Is there a way to find out where a launcher entry's .desktop file is at? In my mind, it should be as easy as right-clicking the icon and selecting an option that called Show .desktop file or something like that.

The inspiration for this question comes from me installing the Spot ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
