After laptop has been put to sleep dock disappears

I have an Acer Nitro 5 laptop that dual-boots Linux and Windows. When I restart my computer and log in to Ubuntu the dock appears on the left of the screen as it should be. However, if I close my laptop (i.e. put it to sleep) and reopen it, the dock disappears. I have multiple desktop environments installed, like KDE, Gnome, Cinnamon, etc. I like to switch between them depending on my mood/workflow. However whenever I do this, I get signed out of my user accounts and logins on various web pages. How can I swap without losing my logins?

Maximize and restore button not visible in WSL GUI window

I've recently started using WSL2 with GUI. I started by reading this. I am able to use the apps easily, however the window does not have maximize and restore button, but only close:

I also saw a YouTube video where the guy said Xming needs to be installed to run WSL GUIs, but for me it ran without that, and installing Ximg didn't have any effect.

Is it because I missed a step or is it a limitation of  ...

Connect to OpenVPN server from Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS

I have a number of ovpn files that allow me to connect to different OpenVPN servers. These files work well on Windows platform using the OpenVPN community edition utility. Each requires a username, password and password for the key.

My ovpn have the ca, cert and key within the ovpn file itself (not a problem to extract each to its own file).

I tried setting up the connections in the Setting -> Network

I have a microk8s one node cluster set up. When enabling Cilium network policies I cannot access the whoami webpage; however, I can access it fine without the network policy or if I uncomment the fromEntities and toEntities “all” parts. Can anyone help me with what I am doing wrong please?

file not found even though it exists - ESET Endpoint Antivirus activation problem

I have succesfully installed EST Endpoint Antivirus on Ubuntu 22.04.

Activation fails as follows:

 /opt/eset/eea/sbin/lic --key XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
 bash: /opt/eset/eea/sbin/lic --key: No such file or directory

but this file does exist, indeed. The same happens with all other activation options, including file activation.

I have three monitors hooked up to my PC with an RTX 2060. aplay -l & pactl list sinks results as below.

How do I get following configured with PulseAudio :

  • The left monitor to be left-only channels.
  • The middle monitor to be centre channels.

How to Install Grub 2 on a Fresh Disk to boot from a different UEFI file for Memtest

My objective is to install Grub 2 on an initially blank drive and then add the boot partition for UEFI so that the UEFI .img can be added and everything can boot as a standalone.

When I press Meta and then start typing to look for an app, the first letter is written twice.For example, if I type "firefox", the search bar will display "ffirefox". I read Cuda 11.0 installs 11.1 on Ubuntu 18.04 - Ask Ubuntu so tried sudo apt-get install cuda-11-0 but the result is an "unable to locate" error.

On my ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. X756UV with a nvidia GM108M [GeForce 920MX] it seem nvidia-driver-525 - distro non-free recommended is not functional. From the distro-upgrade (from 22.04) it boot in console mode and startx crash, back in "Software Rendering" graphics i try to add the driver from "additional driver" from update manager box and that crash as well.

Can anyone send me a proper link to install and use wine on Lubuntu 22.04? I would prefer to install from synaptic or from a debina file, than terminal. There are so many ways to do it, and nothing works yet. I dont think it is the same to install on Ubuntu. Thank you.

Unable to access dotfiles and dotdirectories in ssh

The client is a Macbook Pro (MacOS 13). Server PC is Ubuntu 22.04. When I,ssh and do ls ~/.ssh or ls ~/.config from the server shell, I get an error cannot access '/home/username/.ssh': Permission denied (os error 13).

So, I have expanded access permissions to directories such as ~/.ssh by doing chmod 777 and so on.

sudo chmod 777 ~/.ssh
cd ~/.ssh
sudo chmod 777 . /*

However, if I do ls ~/.ssh as ...

gjs is not responding in Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS

I am receiving gjs is not responding popup when logging into the system. I have also noticed that if I click on force quit then a black screen comes followed by the login screen. That is, on clicking force quit, i've to again login by entering the password. Below is the screenshot for the same.

Stuck in Virtual Terminal and Broken Package Installer

I recently updated to Ubuntu 22.04, and my package installer for some reason started returning errors. I tried restarting my PC, and I've been stuck in virtual terminal ever since.

sudo apt --fix-broken install returns an error saying sub process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Is there something I can do to fix this?

Recently I upgraded my Linux kernel from 5.13 to the latest 5.15 on Ubuntu 22.04 but upon that happening the system won’t boot up. I know this has to do with the graphic drivers as the command: lshw -c video in the configuration tab shows configuration: latency=0 which should show some driver but it doesn’t. I use Ubuntu Studio 22.04.1 LTS inside a H61M-P31(MS-7788) motherboard, with Intel Core i5-3330, 2x1TB HHD and 8GB RAM.

I always use Jack Audio Connection Kit, Calf Audio Gear (real-time plugin) and Audacity, last available version of course.

Since a while (a month or less) I can notice there are a lot of audio lost (short jumps) when I record more than 5 minutes of continuous time.
