Ubuntu 22.04.1 Screencast generate a corrupted video (freezed)

Using the screencast provided with ubuntu (when pressing "Print screen" key) is launching correctly. Everything seems to work fine during the record.

Anyway, the file generated is like a screenshot. It's a video with only the first frame. Mouse, window and nothing are moving. The video is just freezed.

Sometimes, it start to move, and then freeze again in the video.

I don't find any solution on interne ...

How to mute ALL notification-sounds (e.g. notification-sound during emptying the trash bin)?

I just upgraded my Ubuntu Studio system from version 20.04 LTS to 22.04.1 LTS, and suddenly I hear different sounds during events like emptying the trash bin for example, which never happened in my two previous Ubuntu Studio installations 20.04 LTS and 18.04 LTS.

Looking into 'Systemsettings' I cannot find any tab to mute all these annoying notification-sounds. There is no such tab as 'Sounds'? I ...

Unable to see my SFP connection using ifconfig

When I do ifconfig, below is the output, I have the virbr0,virbr1..., and also the vnet 0 - 20. Not sure why I have this, because I just got this server few days ago. I inserted the SFP cable and I can see the lights are blinking but no eth is showing on ifconfig. I run 'lspci | grep Ether' and I can see the SFP port.

Reordering partitions (swap) on SSD

I have dual boot (win+ubuntu 20.04) installed, order of partitions is:

  1. EFI system
  2. Microsoft reserved partition
  3. Windows ntfs
  4. nfts (hidden)
  5. ubuntu / 40GB
  6. swap 20gb
  7. /home
  8. unused 200gb

I want to extend partition 5), and to simplify operation as much as possible, i was thinking about extending it by adding 6) swap 20gb to it, and create new swap from unused space at 8)

so order would be: 1-4 the same  ...

How can I use "file://" URLs from my Firefox snap version?

Low FPS with i7 EVO (12th gen)

I have installed Ubuntu 22.10 on a Huawei Matebook Pro X 2022 and I am having issues with the gnome shell running at really low FPS and glitching, screen blinking black, sometimes green, sometimes being grainy etc but always less than 1 FPS.

When booting up the live USB with safe grapics option the gnome shell is smooth as butter though, so I suspect this is a driver issue?

Ubuntu 22.04 has problems detecting my Logitech webcam

My Ubuntu 22.04 installed on a Tuxedo Infinibook 15 has problems detecting my Logitech C925e webcam.

After cold boot, it's rarely working and sometimes lighting the green light but no software using the camera. Software does not recognize the camera then.

When I re-plug the cam, its working.

About the dpkg command, a few tutorials do mention of the --unpack option. According with jammy (1) dpkg.1 it indicates

--unpack package-file...

BIOS update removed GRUB from boot options

I updated my BIOS, and after doing so GRUB bootloader completeley vanished from boot options and even windows advanced recovery. Dualboot ubuntu 22.10, windows 11. I cannot access Ubuntu, but the drive still shows in diskmgmt.

Amd ryzen 5 3500U, 12GB ram, vega 8 graphics and 512 gb nvme ssd. Any help appreciated

UBUNTU - Setting up secondary Network Interface for secondary IP Address

I'm trying to setup a Wireguard server so my Home Server can use the SECONDARY IP of the VPS, hiding my HOME's IP.

I'm using Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, the server also runs a Pterodactyl Panel and Wings, that's why I can't use the primary IP.

I have been trying editing a lot of files like /etc/network/interfaces and such, but i'm not able to setup a new Network Interface with the secondary IP.

I successfully installed Ubuntu Desktop 22.04 LTS on a HP ENVYx360 laptop, using a bootable USB I created with Rufus.

Why is the size of a symlink equal to the size of it's path string?

I've read a different question regarding this where the answer was that a symlink stores the name and target + a few bytes for other metadata.

Using "ls -l dir" on ext4, why does the symlink size always equal to the length of the string path of the file it links to?

I've tried it with multiple different paths, different file names, different files, etc.
