Anybody knows how to "fix" this blurry font that's only on snap-store?
gr flag

The issue I'm facing is pretty much described with the title and the screenshot below.

I'm using Ubuntu 21.10, Gnome 40, Wayland display manager on a machine powered by ryzen 5 4500u with radeon graphics (incase any of that is needed to diagonise the issue).

Enlarge the image and see the difference in font readability betweeen the dash/status bar vs snap-store

Which CLI text editor does not waste screen space?
jp flag

Vim has a non-removable status bar at the bottom. Nano has the same problem with its title bar. Surely there has to be an alternative for entering text in full-screen without any frills? I often jot down ideas in a full-screen terminal with large font size and a single line space becomes critical. For instance, my entire screen looks like below with Vim.

How can I install Ubuntu Server 20.04 LTS using legacy boot?
us flag

I am trying to get a small server running for Minecraft. However, The PC I am using only supports legacy boot, so I cannot boot from my install drive. Is there a way around this? Or is it possible to use an older version and then upgrade from there? I don't know if that last bit is a thing, but I figured I'd ask... :)

A swift reply would be greatly appreciated

How to correct bad package states after failed do-release-upgrade?
nl flag

I've just tried to upgrade Hirsute to Impish (21.04 to 21.10) using do-release-upgrade, but it seems to have failed. At the end of the first attempt, a reboot was requested. But nothing seemed to have changed after the reboot. Subsequent runs of do-release-upgrade fail "silently" with just "Aborted".

Checking /var/log/dist-upgrade/main.log indicates that all packages have apparently been upgraded, ...

Chrome out of screen boundaries when it's maximized
in flag

I'm using Xubuntu 21.04 and as you can see in the screenshot chrome window goes out of screen boundaries when I maximize it. Tried to change the theme (classic and gtk+) but got the same result. It's only happening for the chrome window, others are fine.

Is there someone who knows why and how can I fix this?

Thanks.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
