dell vostro 5481 turns off instead of suspend

My laptop turns off instead of suspending. Like if I took the battery out. Cannot see any differences on next startup. Laptop model is Dell Vostro 5481, CPU is i5-8265U (Whiskey Lake), GPU from Intel. Current Ubuntu version is 20.04.6. Same behavior was on Ubuntu 18.04. Sometimes the problem temporarily resolves itself with a system update.

My Ubuntu is freezing (not responding, nothing including mouse/keyboard and desktop shows old time). It happens once/twice a week. I have not figured out the actual culprit, though but the logs contain the following error messages:

My Steps:

1.To start with, download the ubuntu-base-20.04.1-base-arm64.tar.gz from ubuntu-cdimage. PS: device platform is aarch64.

2.Extract the contents of the tar file using the command tar -xf , and then mount the host directories: /proc, /sys, /dev, and /dev/pts. After that, chroot into the system using qemu-aarch64-static.

3.Run the following commands:

apt update && apt install sudo language- ...

virt-install doesn't create .img file on Ubuntu 22.04

In Ubuntu 14.04 virt-install of kvm ISO used to create .img automatically in location /var/lib/libvirt/images/ but in Ubuntu 22.04 even though vm installation was successful, the .img file didn't get generated. Below is the virt-install command I executed on 22.04:-

This is my first time setting up and OS myself. I want to delete my Windows OS and install Ubuntu instead.

As I don't have a USB stick available, I used the UNetbootin to create a bootable Live USB drive.

The installation was perfect because I could interact with the Ubuntu OS, install Chrome, etc.

So, my Security department requested me to remove some unused packages from a certain Ubuntu machine, as their presence is a security risk in case some intruder get access:

pactl set-sink-mute 0 true

Tt's working if I run directly in terminal but if I make file.sh or run in crontab:

* * * * * pactl set-sink-mute 0 true

I get error.

Is there any way if I open the terminal & the script auto write & auto enter in terminal by file.sh or crontab?

Unable to run systemd service without password despite NOPASSWD in sudoers file

I checked several posts here and on other StackExchange instances but nothing works so far.

I have installed Ubuntu Server inside a Virtual Box VM on a Windows 10 Pro Host (This host does NOT have a physical CDRom drive)

I have gone to install the Virtual Box Guest Additions but there is no virtual CDRom.

USB install Ubuntu 22.04 display resolution fixed to 860x640, not able to show full installation page so not able to continue

I'm trying to USB install Ubuntu 22.04 on an Intel NUC Extreme 13, however the resolution is fixed to 860x640 and cannot be changed. As a result I'm not able to show the full installation page, because the Continue button is on the bottom of the page, so is not displayed.

I guess this is due to the display driver. As the following figure shows, the graphics card is llvmpipe.

If that is unclear, I found a substantially equivalent question at How to "overlay"/clone displays in GNOME Wayland that includes some handy images showing two displays are mirrored and one is extended.

After GUI-upgrading from Xubuntu 22.10 to 23.04 I had a nightmare of a time getting various issues fixed, principally caused by imbalanced packages (mainly exo). How do I mount a guest Samba share on Ubuntu?

I have a public (guest enabled) Samba share running on my local network from my Xubuntu server. I can access this on my Xubuntu 22.04.02 linux client with Thunar using the path smb://hostname.local/path. Accessing the share in this way, I have full read/write access, as intended (and do not need to enter a username or password).
