Mounted NTFS partition with 'reading directory '.': input/output error' exclusively on paths with Umlaut

I had to recover an SSD that wouldn't boot. I created a DiskDump, decrypted via dislocker and the recovery-password. I can read all of the contents, with one exception. All folders that contain an Umlaut ('ä','ö') prompt an error:

Usually this would indicate a hardware issue, however, since this is happening in different locations exclusively on path ...

Kubuntu Wrong Date Locale

Kubuntu 23.04

Issue: the date in the taskbar and sometimes in some places in the settings is displayed in the wrong locale. I live in Georgia (not the US state). I tried many many times to modify the locale file located in /etc/default. I did it by running sudo nano locale while in that folder. Can AppArmor provide isolation between containers? (like SELinux)

I'm interested in using AppArmor to enforce security boundaries between containers.

https://www.redhat.com/sysadmin/apparmor-selinux-isolation was written a few years ago comparing AppArmor and SELinux for container security. Where would Grub be installed?

This is a follow up and a question branched from this question. In the question, I was asking about how to install portable Ubuntu on an external SSD.

From what I understand from the bug tracker. It says theres an issue that Grub would be installed on first EFI partition no matter user selection. As confirmed later, this seems to be fixed on Ubuntu 23.04.

Therefore, there is no need to manually p ...

How to determine if a computer will be able to run Ubuntu

What is the process someone should go through when trying to determine if a computer will be able to run linux? I assume the first step is to look to see if the computer is certified (e.g. on https://ubuntu.com/certified), but what if the computer is new, is not on that list, or is self-built.

In this case I would assume you should look at the relevant parts and ask if they are compatible? If so what  ...

Is git-lfs package on apt actually secure? How would a consumer know?
br flag

git-lfs docs only suggest to use packagecloud, but there's a base apt package now, as referenced by https://askubuntu.com/a/1418540/431220.

The question is: how can I as a consumer know if this apt package is safe to use, instead of relying on the packagecloud solution, which is frankly (to me) 10x worse, since I do not want to be dealing with manual package management.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
