How can I use ffmpeg to convert from mp4 to avi for use in Davinci Resolve without massive increase in filesize?

I have an mp4 file that I'd like to edit within Davinci Resolve. Due to licensing issues, the free version of Resolve cannot edit videos that are encoded using h.264.

I'd like to use ffmpeg.

I attempted to convert the video from mp4 to a mov file with the video re-encoded to the prores format.

I installed Ubuntu Studio 22.04 over my Linux Mint 21.1 Vera installation on a Windows dual boot system. I am a pro musician but new to Linux. I'm getting this error after trying to mount a flashdrive/usb partition and not sure why. I've tried different USBs for the system but all to no avail, hoping someone on here could help me figure it out.

Kubuntu 22.10 installation keeps crashing!

I have installed Mplus on Ubuntu 22.04. My architecture is aarch64, when I run the application I get:

Why is Snap Firefox using so much cpu time?

Firefox and other browsers use a lot of CPU time and memory, however, since forcing us to use Snap Firefox, CPU time is through the roof. Way too much CPU time when viewing Youtube and other video sites. I hope this is being addressed.

Laptop keyboard issues with spacebar and 'b' key

I have a pxe server setup and can boot to pxe just fine, however autoinstall doesn't seem to pick up my user-data file. Here is my main.ipxe file.Any ideas?

Remote SMB mount doesn't accurately imitate local file

I have a file (PDF, but I don't believe that's relevant) on a network drive. The drive is an SMB (permanent, but soft, via /etc/fstab) mount, which appears on a mount point, so it has a direct, normal form path, e.g. /mydrive/a/b/x.pdf

If I open the file manager, navigate to that directory, and double click it, Okular (which I configured as default for pdf) reports:

I am trying to run my virtual machines in virt-manager using SDL as my display, rather than a spice server.

The VMs boot flawlessly with spice but when I switch its display to SDL I get the following error:

Mainmenu crashes / loses fonts after a while

Running 22.04.1 LTS.

My main menu "loses" its fonts/glyphs(?) after some time. Without any recognizable trigger, the clock, calendar, app finder and main menu don't show (most) text anymore:

grub efi luks encryption, how avoid "decrypt master key"

because I accidentally deleted the luks key slot saved in the keyfile the system (lubuntu 22.04, grub efi) started as normal with password to decrypt master key, which takes very long because of grub being slow. But then the luks partition can't be found and grub hangs.

If I delete the keyfile, the system asks for the password twice, once for decryption of master key then for the luks partition.

XPS 9310 Webcam not working on Ubuntu 22.04

I've got a XPS 13 9310 running Ubuntu 22.04 with the internal webcame not working. This issue actually started in 20.04 and upgrading didn't help. I've searched through quite a few similar posts on this but as yet not found a solution.

The problem is that sometimes application windows will get sent to the deactivated monitor, upon which they cannot be accessed at all.
