Phoronix Test Suite "Allowed Memory Size Exhausted" under 22.04

I installed Phoronix Test Suite 10.8.4 on Ubuntu 22.04 using the deb package from their website. Up until a couple of weeks ago, it worked without issues. Now when I run a benchmark, I get an error like this:

Odd behavior after upgrading from ubuntu 20.04 to 22.04: pulseaudio, grub, lock screen, standby

I have a Asus UX305UA Zenbook with an Intel i5-6200 CPU running Ubuntu 22.04 (Kernel 5.17.0). Since upgrading from 20.04 to 22.04 I experience some odd issues which seems each worth opening a question but there must be a joint pattern since I have no issues when upgrading 18.04 -> 20.04.

my laptop (hp) has a problem. Every time I start it up, the keyboard is unresponsive, but not always for the same amount of time, (I think it has something to do with trying to hit a key as the CPU asks for information, but that's just a guess). The weirdest part is that some of the keys do work like f12 (function is airplane mode) though not all of the function keys work. I don't see a pattern at least ...

I want to install Ubuntu 22.10 on my computer. I went through this tutorial https://ubuntu.com/tutorials/install-ubuntu-desktop#1-overview, but I ended at step 4. Boot from USB flash drive.

My computer already has a dual boot for Windows and Ubuntu 16.04. I got stuck at this boot menu.

Unable to edit shared text file between virtualbox Ubuntu 20.04 VM and Windows 11 host

I created a shared folder that I will be editing from my virtual machine. The issue is that it's impossible to edit it from Ubuntu VM while it can be edited from windows host. The file content can't be saved once it's edited as this message arises: Unexpected error: Error renaming temporary file: Text file busy.

How do I prevent Ubuntu from switching to Virtual Terminal 1 when my monitor sleeps?

I'm experiencing this odd issue where every time my monitor sleeps or the input is changed Ubuntu switches to displaying Virtual Terminal 1 (i.e. equivalent of pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1) when I wake it up/reconnect. I can switch back to my GUI using Alt+F2, but it's rather annoying. How can I make Ubuntu resume into the graphical display when the monitor comes out of sleep?

Increase simple-scan maximum resolution beyond 2400 dpi

My scanner Epson Perfection 3200 Photo supports resolutions of up to 3.200 dpi x 6.400 dpi (horizontal x vertical). It has full / complete support by sane.

Yet when scanning with simple-scan under Ubuntu 22.04 I can only select resolutions of up to maximum 2400 dpi.

Change right Shift key to work as Enter

My keyboard has a small Enter key and the right Shift which is bigger and I do not really use it. Would it be possible to remap the right Shift key to work as the Enter key, as well?

I tried this but it did not work. 62 is my right SHift (used xev for that) but maybe Enter is not the right command, or maybe it is wrong altogether.

I've seen many posts on problem installing Ubuntu on NVMe drives, none helped so far. In my case:

  • SystemRescue live cd does recognize the drive, but Ubuntu installation doesn't, so I am sure that BIOS is correct.
  • I had Ubuntu Server 22.04 installed there, but after installing a Nvidia driver signed, I was not able anymore.
