Why is my display frozen?

I have an installation of Ubuntu Budgie that I also have KDE installed on. Recently, I created and changed an Xorg conf file so I could get it to work with my NVIDIA GPu instead of my Integrated graphics, however, now the screen freezes right after boot. I get a series of messages, but then the screen freezes. This is what it looks like.

I've tried to configure 2 VLANs on one physical interface ens33. And ens34 is used to access the internet But I can't ping VM from other hosts. The VM network adapter is in 192.168.100.0/22 network.

UPDATE#2: I've taken to recovering from this failure mode by unplugging the blanked monitor's HDMI cable and plugging it back in multiple times until the situation corrects itself -- which it seems to eventually do. I am a bit concerned about wear and tear.

A big concern here is there doesn't seem to be any obvious way of narrowing down which of the many moving parts are the right place to lodge ...

On Wireshark in Capture Options is it always just a line under Monitor Mode for interfaces?

I ran wireshark on my Mac and there is a checkbox in Capture Options for my interface under monitor mode. I can check it and uncheck it.

When I run wireshark on ubuntu on the same wifi connection and I just have a line in that column. Is that just how it is on ubuntu? Is there a way to enable it like with the checkbox on my Mac?

I just tried installing the ubuntu-20.04.6-live-server-amd64.iso on my old Hardware: One SSD no Dualboot, Asus Maximus VI Hero, I7-4770k

However the bios can't seem to find the Grub bootloader. The SSD I installed ubuntu on is being displayed but trying to boo from it ends up in a black screen and return to bios. In Boot Device Control the UEFI and Legacy OPROM option is selected.
