No sound out of laptop speakers with Alder Lake audio controller

Updating a pendrive with a new version, leaving other partitions alone, possible?

I have a pen drive with three partitions

  1. Ubuntu 20 (to run as a live version, as in I used the iso with rufus to create a bootable version that also allow me to install, I am not using an installed version on the pen drive itself)
  2. NTFS (bitlocker)
  3. exFat

Can't access computer because keyboard doesn't work in GRUB

I just used mainline to install the latest kernel on Ubuntu 22.10 on an HP Envy x360. I rebooted, and now it's stuck at GRUB because I can't do anything with the keyboard. I can't boot from a USB either.

When I start up, it shows these screens and gets stuck at the last one. Please help, I literally just bought this computer.

After installing Dropbox on a clean install of Ubuntu 22.04, when I try to open the "Files" application, it opens a window and then immediately closes it. When I try to run nautilus from the command line, I get error messages and a segfault:

Logging into the system takes about 10-20 seconds even if the screen was locked a second ago. Sometimes it showed "snapd user session agent", when I removed snap the problem was gone, then when i needed snap and reinstalled it everything was ok, but after a day the issue returned. Slow framerate systemwide on Kubuntu 22.10 on laptop

The show fps diagnostic in Desktop Effects says it's running at 22fps and anything else says roughly the same. I have a 144Hz screen and it runs at 22fps regardless. Any changes in settings do not change it whatsoever

Is there any way I might be able to fix this? My laptop is the HP Victus 15-fb0xxx.

temporary failure in name resolution - resolve.conf points to 8.8.8.8 but still not working

I'm connected to the internet, but whenever I ping a website, I just keep getting "Temporary failure in name resolution."

I've already tried the following:

  • changing /etc/resolv.conf to include nameserver 8.8.8.8 and nameserver 8.8.4.4
  • ensuring that there's no symbolic link that's redirecting resolv.conf as per this question
  • running sudo systemctl restart systemd-resolved.service
  • restarting my computer
