I just upgraded to ubuntu 22.10 from 22.04 and I noticed that it was not detecting my speakers and micrphone. I tried connecting it to a bluetooth earphone just to check if it even works, but even that failed. I have attached some pictures regarding this, can someone help?

WoL stopped working for ASUS PN50 Mini PC after upgrade to lunar/23.04

Recently I upgraded my ASUS PN50 Mini PC from kinetic/22.10. to lunar/23.04 and since then Wake-on-LAN stopped working. Before and after the upgrade WoL was (and still is) enabled in the BIOS. When the PN50 is running I can also see that the WoL packet is received:

vlc wont autoplay cds and dvds but can play them in media

fresh install of popos 22.04 with vlc 3.0.18.

vlc will play dvds and cds manually by going to media > open disk > selecting the disc type (dvd / cd / bluray) then disk device ( /dev/cdrom ) that works but it wont autoplay cds or dvds when inserted, it throws the error "your input cant be opened, unable to open mrl cdda:///run/user/1000/gvfs/cdda:host=sr0"

The laptop computer is: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. ROG Strix G814JI_G814JI The sudo lspci reported audio is: Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation Device 22bd (rev a1)

I know the hardware works because Windows 11 sound works. In Ubuntu 23.04 the Bluetooth sound is good but no sound output from builtin speakers. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

It uses the DisplayPort (DP) out on my motherboard, where I am using the integrated Intel graphics chipset (no dedicated graphics card).

Where is my /dev/dm-2 2 GB swap partition?

On a brand new Ubuntu 22.04.2 installation, swapon --show shows I have a 2 GB swap partition:

$ swapon --show

Neither df -h, nor the gparted GUI, however, shows this partition anywhere. Where is it?

Note that I have a LUKS-encrypted install.

USB Camera is not working and tried diff USB ports - sometimes I get lucky and it comes up in cheese or zoom with camera led lighting up - but most of time led light is off. I have this problem on both my Lenovo Thinkpad X1 2nd Gen Yoga (built in webcam) and HP Elitedesk 800 G3 desktop mini (external usb camera)

It never came in the 22.04 version, nor with the 22.04 kernel that I booted into on 21.10. At 21.10 kernel the problems began. gparted operation failed after almost 10 hours

Finally after being patient for 10 hours, Gparted came back and performed one of two tasks:

  1. It succeeded in resizing a 300 GiB NTFS partition to 270 GiB after moving 270 GiB to the right side.
  2. It failed in maximizing the Ubuntu partition from 40 to 70 GiB.

Is there some best practice of adding a path to $PATH via a shell script permanently via a shell script and have it accessible? I believe I have only seen temporary solutions, via export PATH=$PATH:<path/to/add> but suggested solutions like

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation.
